Arcadia California actively being developed on. After a long development process, we're continuing to actively work behind the scenes to bring Arcadia to life. Development is ongoing across the map, vehicles, gameplay, infrastructure and the many smaller details that come together to create the experience we're aiming for.

We currently expect Arcadia, California to release between late 2026 and early 2027. While this is our current target window, development timelines can change as the project progresses. We'd rather take the additional time necessary to deliver a polished experience than rush the game toward a deadline.

Why has development taken so long?

There are several reasons why Arcadia has remained in development for an extended period of time.

First and foremost, development has been affected by real life circumstances, commitments and limited availability. These have naturally made it difficult to maintain a consistent development schedule at times.

Arcadia is also being developed by a team of two people, with both developers working in completely different fields of development. Because so much of the project depends of both sides working together, development isn't as simple as one person finishing their work independently.

When one side of development falls behind, the other side can be affected as well. Map development, systems, vehicles, infrastructure, optimization and other components all have dependencies between them. This can result in certain parts of the project having to wait for another component and to be completed before work can continue.

Despite this, development has continued throughout this project's lifespan. The additional time has allowed us to reconsider systems, improve the map, expand our ideas, establish a stronger technical foundation and focus on areas that may been otherwise rushed.

Lastly, we want Arcadia to be the best game it possibly can be when it releases.

We would rather take additional time to properly develop, test, optimize, and polish the experience than release something unfinished simply to meet a deadline. Our current release window of late 2026 to early 2027 reflects where we currently expect development to be, but the quality of the final experience will always take priority over an exact date.

Arcadia, California will also be an 18+ experience.

The game is being designed with mature themes and content that we believe makes an age restriction appropriate for the experience we're creating. Because of this, access to Arcadia will be restricted to players who are 18 years of age or older.

We understand that this may come as a surprise to some members of our community, particularly those who have followed the project throughout its development. However, this decision has been made deliberately and is intended to ensure that the game can maintain the direction and level of maturity we're aiming for while providing an appropriate environment for the community.

We also recognize that simply asking players to confirm their age does not independently verify someone's age. For that reason, Metro Productions reserves the right to take action when there is reasonable evidence that a player does not meet the minimum age requirement.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include temporary suspension of access or a permanent ban. Moderation decisions will be handled by our Trust & Safety team in accordance with our rules and policies, with appeals available where applicable.

Development is currently active, with work continuing across multiple areas of Arcadia. Our focus remains on building the core experience, improving the world, developing custom systems, expanding vehicle support, optimizing performance, and preparing the game for future testing.

As development progresses, we'll continue sharing development logs, screenshots, previews, announcements, and other updates with the community.

Arcadia has taken time to build but development has never been about simply getting the game out as quickly as possible.
